Check your lung health by attending February screenings
In a bid to reduce how many people suffer from serious lung diseases in Tameside special screenings are being held in February.
These screenings consist of blowing into a machine which can detect early signs of Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) and whether you are at risk of the disease.
There'll be health care professionals at all of the events to offer you information and support, plus booklets and leaflets for you to take home.
After your check you may be directed to your GP for appropriate medical support.
Please don’t ignore symptoms like a persistent cough or feeling breathless and wheezy as these are potential warning signs.
COPD is a term used to describe lung diseases including emphysema, chronic bronchitis and refractory asthma and is characterised by a feeling of increased breathlessness.
One of the best ways to look after the health of your lungs is to avoid smoking and if you’re looking for help and support to quit call Be Well Tameside on 0161 716 2000.
The screenings take place from 10am – 3pm at the Grafton Centre in Hyde and are on the following dates:
